Students can travel through Germany for 29.40 euros per month
A Germany semester ticket costing 29.40 euros will be available to students at 17 Hessian universities starting on April 1, 2024. Like the well-known Deutschland Ticket, the Deutschlandsemester ticket can be used on any public transportation system in the country.
Similar to the former RMV semester ticket, the Germany semester ticket is distributed to all students in accordance with the solidarity principle, in which each student purchases a ticket at a very cheap cost.
"We are making sure that every student has a semester ticket that offers a good value-for-money ratio,” stated Kaweh Mansoori, the Minister of Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport, Housing, and Rural Areas for Hessian. "Bus and train travel is strongly encouraged by a semester ticket at such a low cost that, like the Deutschlandticket, is usable on all German local transportation. Students now receive the same for slightly more than half of what they had spent for the upgrade to the Deutschlandticket, which was 49 euros. Mansoori called this a huge success and a reasonable consideration of the living situations of students.
At the end of 2023, the German federal and state governments decided to implement a standard Germany semester ticket. The RMV then extended this offer to all of the network's universities. We have been putting a lot of effort into putting the Germany Semester Ticket into effect since the federal and state governments made their decision at the conclusion of the previous year. Prof. Knut Ringat, managing director of RMV, remarked, "I would like to thank everyone involved for their strength in pulling off this switch so quickly, in time for the summer semester." "This means that students will be able to use local transport throughout Germany for the upcoming semester for less than one euro per day."
Available for usage as of April 1st
The Germany semester ticket began on March 1st at two universities that have an earlier start date for the summer semester. Students can use their Germany semester ticket at the other universities starting on April 1. The federal government released the upgrades to the Germany Ticket as a temporary fix, and students at institutions who haven't decided on the Germany Semester Ticket yet can still buy them for the summer semester.
A handy ticket known as the Deutschlandsemesterticket is distributed. As a result, the Germany Semester Ticket can be provided without the need for occupied sales offices and promptly. Furthermore, pupils need not exert much work when selling using HandyTicket. The Deutschlandsemester ticket will, however, be able to be issued on a chip card at specific sales locations inside the RMV area starting in the upcoming weeks. Students can travel all public transportation across the country in second class with the Germany semester ticket.
